Monchapeaupanama was hand-woven in SigSig, Ecuador, near Cuenca, by a cooperative. Each hat is unique, a work of art, which represents a work of several days for the craftsmen, exclusively women, who weave them.

These women work as a team, making straw hats and many local handicrafts using their ancestral techniques, passed down from generation to generation.

It also allows them to generate additional income, distributed equitably, which allows them to improve their standard of living, their well-being and that of the community as a whole.
